The new Opteka XL remote releases from Opteka allows the camera to be released from a distance of 10 feet (120″). All electronic, just plug-in and use. Has a momentary release, as well as a locking position for time releases.

this works wonderfully with the Cannon Rebel xs, though I have not played around much with the bulb setting. I recommend a longer cord like this one, and it has been quite handy shooting self portraits to use as drawing references, a shorter cord would have made things much more difficult.

The cord works as it should. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 only because I would have wanted the shutter button to be on the larger end of the switch instead of the smaller end, near the cord. No worries otherwise.
1 Star Not the same product as pictured
The product picture as of 2009-05-18 (and last week when I ordered) is for a different product (that is, the photo is of the thing I was looking, but does not match what I received) — the product sold here has a mini-headphone jack style connector, NOT the specialized Canon connector shown in the photo.
5 Stars Opteka is better buy than Canon
The Opteka remote release cord has a 10 foot cord and is much more versatile than the short Canon cord. So far I have experienced no problems with it.

This is one of the best accessories you can have for a Canon EOS Rebel XT. it’s a lot cheaper than the Canon product and has a 10′ cord, something the Canon product lacks. basically a plug and play device that works great. thanks Opteka for a great product. but this one and forget about the Canon remote.
